Housekeeping in my office …

Housekeeping in my office works more than me and gets paid less and is valued less!

I have been observing my office housekeeping since many days and I realized that they work more than me, more number of days and have no value at all!

My office is not very big in size, so we have just two housekeeping members, one lady and one man. Both of them do not know Hindi, they speak Telugu. Lady must be between 40-45 age and man must be around 30-35. When I come to office the lady says “Namaste” to me and on my reply the same way, she feels good and gives a pleasant smile. The man says “Good Morning” when I come. They do the same to all who come to office in the morning. Lady doesn’t talk to many since not many reply to her wishes and looks kind of scared among office people. Since I keep talking to them frequently so the lady now has started talking to me freely without hesitation. She asks me if I have had my breakfast/lunch on respective times.

One day when I was taking coffee in pantry, both the housekeeping members were there, then suddenly lady asked me,

“What is your salary?”

I was feeling uncomfortable within myself on being asked this question from the lady since I knew that my salary would be 10-15 times more than what they are getting and if I tell them my exact salary right away then they might feel low or might start considering me very high or might feel uncomfortable to talk to me next time, so to make the situation lighter I asked them another question without myself answering theirs,

“When do you come to office? And when do you leave?”

She said, “I come by 7:30 and go back by 7 or 8 in the evening”.

“How much do they pay you?” I asked

She said, “I get 3 thousand and this man gets 4.5 thousand”.

I was shocked! It was less than my expectations.

They work for around 12-13 hours a day and that also 6 days a week and get paid just 3-4 thousand!

I work for 8 hours a day and 5 days a week and get paid 10-15 times more than them!

Their work involves a lot of physical work also and in my work I just in front of a computer do some coding.

I asked them to which places they belong, they named a few villages in Andhra. I asked them then why did they come to Hyderabad, they said, for job and their kids do not want to do work in villages. In their jobs they have a lot of insecurity too. I remember the time when our last office boy was expelled from the office without mentioning any reason.

It was not the first time when I was seeing all this. This happens daily and everywhere around us.

After reading what I have written probably most of us would think, “What’s wrong in it? This is how things happen; intellect is paid and valued more than physical labor”. This is the kind of system we live in. This is a servant owner system. If I do not own any natural resource then I am a servant of one or the other. Whatever thing is assumed to be “valuable” in the system, people in production of those things are “valued” and they earn a lot and others are exploited. Now those who are being exploited want to become like those who are exploiting. In this system I can make production in my house continuous only when my kid is also servant or owner of something in the market and is able to earn money and is ready to feed me when I am old. Since in this system there are a lot of insecurities involved so to get rid of those insecurities I am bound to accumulate, continuously and more and more accumulation, which causes many other problems of production and distribution. Now the question which comes is why the thing which is “valued” in the system is “valued”? The stuff which I produce (i.e. Software in my case) is valued in the market and I am earning. Who is the market? Who is creating the market? I am the market and I am creating it. I am making those things valuable in the market which I am making myself and others to produce them for me.

It is the missing purpose in every aspect of our life which makes those things valuable in the system which do not have any value really. And if we ask ourselves if we are happy with the system we are living in? If we feel secure in the system we are living in? If we are able to ensure continuous happiness for ourselves in the system we are living in? Then answer comes as NO!

If I myself am not able to make me happy in the system I created then I need to recheck what am I doing? Where am I going? Is there any direction or it has no direction?

Ultimately the question comes what is the root cause of all this which is happening? And the answer comes that root cause is Understanding. It is the understanding which can make the purpose of life clear, it is the understanding which can make purpose of everything clear, it is the understanding which makes a person self-organized, it is the understanding which develops absolute self confidence in every individual, it is the understanding which makes relationships stronger which ultimately leads to prosperity in every family, it is the understanding which can thus bring fearlessness in the society and peaceful co-existence in nature. This all starts with understanding at the level of individual, because individual is the basic entity of world, nation, state, society, family.

अतृप्ति

हर एक फूल पत्ती में मैं,
तृप्ति ढूंडा करता हूँ,
जब मैं अतृप्त महसूस करता हूँ,
तिनके के सहारे से भी,
अत्यंत आनंद लिया करता हूँ,
जब मैं अतृप्त महसूस करता हूँ|

मोनिटर की स्क्रीन पर मैं,
संदेशों का इंतज़ार किया करता हूँ,
संदेश ना आने पर मैं,
व्याकुल हो जाया करता हूँ,
लोगों को संदेश भेज भेज कर मैं,
अपनी अतृप्ति निकाला करता हूँ|

कोई मिल जाए मुझे,
जो मुझे सुने और समझ जाए,
ऐसी आशा लगाया करता हूँ|
ना मिलने पर किसी के मैं,
अकेले ही घूमने निकल जाया करता हूँ,
जब मैं अतृप्त महसूस करता हूँ|

अतृप्ति के खालीपन मे ये,
मौसम का बदलाव भी मुझे सताता है,
किसी के मुँह मोड़ लेने पर वह
मुझे अपने विरोधी की तरह दिखने लग जाता है|
दुकानों पर खा कर के पकवान,
मैं उस अंतराग्नि को बुझाया करता हूँ|

पूरा संसार मुझे तृप्त करने मैं लगा रहे,
मन मैं जो इच्छा विचार हैं,
वह उसी क्षण पूरे हो जाएँ!
ऐसी निरंतर तृप्ति की मैं उन अनित्य
वस्तुओं से आशा लगाया करता हूँ,
जब मैं अतृप्त महसूस करता हूँ|

ये अतृप्ति की ज्वाला मुझे,
मेरी परतंत्रता का ध्यान दिलाती है,
मेरे अन्दर बसी आसक्तियां,
अपना असल रूप दिखाने लग जाती हैं|
स्वयं पर नियंत्रण रखने मे ही,
मेरी आधी उर्जा चली जाती है|

प्रश्नों के उत्तरों का आभाव नही है,
बस उस अमृत का ही आभाव है,
जो इस अतृप्ति को बुझायेगा|
नदी के उस पार दीखता है वो अमृत मुझे,
पर तैरना नहीं आता यही व्यथा है,
जाने कब ये इंसान उस पार पहुच पायेगा|

यह सब सोच कर के मैं,
अपनी उस अतृप्ति को बड़ा लिया करता हूँ,
जब मैं अतृप्त महसूस करता हूँ|

सज्जन आदमी (A Modest Man!)…

मन में एक चोर छिपा बैठा है और
वह कहता है की वह सज्जन आदमी है,
हर क्षण मन में वह किसी की हत्या किया करता है और
वह कहता है की वह सज्जन आदमी है!

समाज के भय से अपने असल स्वरुप को,
वह ज़माने की नज़रों से छिपाए रखता है,
जाने कितनो का अपने ख्यालों में बलात्कार किया करता है,
वह कहता है की वह सज्जन आदमी है!

अपने गुस्से को मन में ही दबाकर वह,
मानता है की मैं क्रोध को जीत चुका हूँ,
अपने ही अन्दर ही घुट घुट कर जिया करता है,
वह कहता है की वह सज्जन आदमी है!

एक सीमा तक सज्जनता को ढोता है,
और घुटन सहन ना होने पर फ़ेंक देता है मुखौटा,
हर क्षण ख़ुद ही को धोखा दिया करता है,
वह कहता है की वह सज्जन आदमी है!

ख़ुद भी एक चूहा बनकर वह सज्जन,
दूसरे चूहों से निरंतर आगे रहने का चित्रण किया करता है,
भागना बुरा है साथ ही यह भी कहा करता है,
वह कहता है की वह सज्जन आदमी है!

स्वयं को सही मानकर वह सज्जन,
पूरी दुनिया को गाली गलौच किया करता है,
साथ ही मानवीयता का गुणगान भी किया करता है,
वह कहता है की वह सज्जन आदमी है!

सबीज होते हुए भी वह सज्जन आदमी,
निर्बीज होने का दावा किया करता है,
अनुकूल वातावरण के मिलते ही वह अंकुरित हो जाया करता है,
वह कहता है की वह सज्जन आदमी है!

सापेक्षता में जी कर भी वह सज्जन आदमी,
निरपेक्षता के दावे किया करता है|
अपनी परतंत्रता से अंजान हो कर वह,
स्वतंत्रता के गीत गाया करता है,
वह कहता है की वह सज्जन आदमी है!

Respect …

Generally when we talk about Respect then we get reminded about our expectation of getting Respect from others. We start thinking about our current state of Respect, who all Respect us, who do not, who is more Respected, who is less, what are the different criterias for ensuring more and more Respect and many such things. Generally we feel Respected when more and more people know us and more and more people feel and think good about us. When it happens then we feel happy and we feel that we have lot of Respect. When somebody appreciates us we feel good/respected, when somebody scolds us we feel bad/disrespected. When we are in front of a person who is “less” in any way than us then we feel good or respected or superior, when we are in front of a person who is “more” in any way than us then we feel bad or disrespect or inferior.

The thing which comes here in notice is, generally our criterias and notions of Respect are relative. We feel more or less Respected relative to others. We see ourselves through the eyes of others. When we see ourselves through our neighbor’s or our friend’s eyes and we find ourselves good then we feel good or respected otherwise we feel bad or disrespected. When we feel that people around us think and feel good about us then we feel Respected. When we see that people around us do not feel or think good about us then we feel disrespected.

Now here the rat-race starts. To feel good about myself or to ensure more and more Respect I keep trying several methods. Since according to my understanding of Respect when other person feels of thinks good about me I feel Respected so, his notions of feeling good or thinking good about someone become my notions of ensuring Respect. I try to do all possible things to rise myself in the eyes of other person so that I can feel Respected. This way we all become drivers of each others lives!

Generally in society 5 things are considered as the criterias for ensuring more and more Respect. They are, Beauty (Roop), Position (Pad), Power (Bal), Money (Dhan) and Intellect (Buddhi). We see in the society that people appreciate or Respect others on the basis of these criterias. A person who has more of it is Respected more and a person who has relatively less is Respected less. With such kind of notions floating in society we try to be “more” in any or more of above criterias to ensure more Respect. This effort to accumulate or ensure more and more of any or above to get respect from others is one of the major root causes of problems which we see in society and unfortunately we all are indulged into it. The sad thing is in spite of ensuring Respect this way by accumulating/ensuring more with us, we still feel insecure about our Respect. As soon as somebody else in our surrounding becomes “more” than us we start feeling “less”.

It is the Relative Evaluation which is the root cause of our insecurities, fears, pressures and unhappiness.

Such kind of insecurities give rise to Inferiority, jealousy and other such things which spoil the relationships.

Whenever we try to ensure Respect from an object which can be separated from us or which has the factor of relativity or “more” or “less” then we feel insecure about our Respect. Till the time we make such an object as basis of our ensuring Respect, relative evaluation is bound to happen. With relative evaluation we are bound to feel insecure.

Now the next question comes, why do we see ourselves though the eyes of others? Why is it that I feel Respected when others think or feel good about me and disrespected when others feel or think bad about me? How come other is driving my life?

We all want Respect. Respect is such a need which is there within us continuously. Continuously in the sense there is never a time when I desire for disrespect or there is never a time when I feel that it has been a long time since I have been getting respect so lets leave it for some time.

We want Certainty, Consistency and Continuity of feeling of Respect within us.

This desire for Respect is there within us continuously which we can see now. Now lets try to understand what is Respect.

We all evaluate ourselves. We feel that we are “this much”. When other person sees us or evaluates us the way we consider ourselves or have evaluated ourselves then we feel Respected. When other person sees us less than what we have evaluated ourselves then we feel disrespected. When other person sees us more than what we have evaluated ourselves then also we feel disrespected since we have fear or insecurity or uncertainty of retaining that evaluation in other person’s mind since we know that we are not that much what other person has evaluated us. Here one thing we can notice is, we feel Respected when we are “Rightly” Evaluated. Here “Right” evaluation according to us is what we have evaluated ourselves.

We feel Respected when we are Rightly Evaluated by other person.

Here also the thing to notice is, the factor of relativity still persists. Our feeling of Respect is being dependent on other person. His right evaluation of me makes me feel Respected. So question which comes is, how is it happening and how can I get rid of this dependency?

The “Right” which we feel is “Right”, is generally not “Absolutely Right”, it is “Relatively Right”. We evaluate ourselves and we do not have self-assurance that this is “Right Evaluation”. In lack of such kind of self-assurance when other person evaluates me less than what I feel I am then I doubt myself and that self-doubt takes me to under-evaluate or over-evaluate or otherwise-evaluate myself and I feel disrespected.

I can have such self-assurance towards my evaluation only when my evaluation is “Absolutely Right” and NOT “Relatively Right”. With such kind of self-assurance towards my evaluation I will Have Respect rather than to Expect it.

It is not about Getting Respect from others it is about Having Respect within ourselves for others.

When I am able to evaluate myself right then I am able to evaluate others also rightly. When I have my absolute right evaluation with me then I have respect, then I do not expect respect from others.

To understand Right Evaluation, Respect, Trust, Relationships and Happiness we need knowledge.

Knowledge includes,

Knowledge of the Self.

Knowledge of Entire Existence.

and Knowledge of Natural Human Conduct.

Sight on a Signal (चौराहे का दृष्य)

वो देखो वो भागा जा रहा है,
बिना जाने कहाँ से आ रहा है,
बिना जाने कहाँ को जा रहा है,
वो देखो वो भागा जा रहा है|

टिन के बने राक्षसों पर सवार,
जान हथेली में लिए,
जाने कहाँ से आ रहा है,
वो देखो वो भागा जा रहा है|

बस में बैठा वो बेहोश आदमी,
आसपास की चीखों से मुह मोड़कर,
जाने कौन सा खजाना खोदने जा रहा है,
वो देखो वो भागा जा रहा है|

ऑटो चलाता वो आदमी,
दूसरे ऑटो वाले से,
आगे निकलने को पागल हुआ जा रहा है,
वो देखो भागा जा रहा है|

चौराहे के बीच में खड़ा वो आदमी,
भागने के लिए तत्पर खड़े उन लोगों को,
लगाम देने की कोशिश किए जा रहा है,
वो देखो वो भागा जा रहा है|

भागने को ही प्रगति,
और संघर्ष को ही धर्मं मानकर,
जिया जा रहा है,
वो देखो वो भागा जा रहा है|

कोई आकर रोके इन्हें,
और बताये कि,
भागने से थकान के अलावा,
कुछ हासिल नहीं कर पा रहा है,
वो देखो वो भागा जा रहा है|

A Mother with Only One Eye…

My mother had only one eye,

I hated her as I was ashamed of her

She was a cook in the school cafeteria where I studied.

One day, when I saw still in a primary class,

She came to visit me to see for herself that I was all right.

I was very upset, how dare she do this to me?

After that incident I ignored her & looked on her

Only with hateful eyes….

The next day, a fellow-student told me,

“oohhh, your mother has only one eye!”

At that moment, I wanted to crawl under the floor

And that my mother would be out of my life completely.

The next day I went to meet her & to tell here:

” because of you I am the joke at school,

Why don’t you die and go away!?

But, she did not respond….

I wasn’t thinking and did not know what I was saying,

I was very angry.

I could not imagine

How she would react to my remarks.

And, I left town.

I studied relentlessly and obtained a scholarship

to continue my studies abroad.

In fact, I completed my studies, got married, bought a house and set up my family.

I lived a happy and a peaceful life.

One day, my mother comes to visit me.

It has been many years since she had disappeared,

She had never met here grand-children.

She remained at the doorstep

While my children were making fun of her

I shouted at her: ” How date you come all the way here and frighten my kids?!

With a calm voice she responded:

“I apologize, I am at the wrong address.”

And she disappeared.

One day, I received an invitation from my hometown school to attend a reunion under the ” close family ties ” topic

I lied to my wife and made her believe that

I was traveling for business.

After the reunion I stopped by the house

where I grew up

The neighbours informed me that

my mother had passed away.

I did not shed even one drop of tear!!!

The neighbor handed me a letter

that my mother had left for me

“My Dear son, I always thought of you.”

I regret having visited you abroad

And frightened your kids

…I was very pleased when I heard that

you would come to attend the reunion

…The only thing was that I could not get up

from my bed to come and see you….

… I am broken-hearted that I brought

shame to you on numerous occasions…

…Did you know that when you were a baby

you had an accident and lost your one eye?…

… and, as any other mother would,

I would not let you grow up with only one eye….

So. I gave you my eye……..

I was very proud and happy to know that my son would be able to see the world with my eye

… with all my love…

…Your mother….

Trust or Attachment?

Generally when it comes to Trusting people then we do it by seeing their work and behavior. We generally have different criterias for declaring a person good or bad. When a person fits into some or more of those criterias we set a level of Trust to them. When I see that, “Yes this person seems to have nice behavior with me”, “he talks to me well”, “he helps me when I am in need”, “he understands me when I tell him my problems”, “he doesn’t leak my secrets to others” etc. then I Trust the person. Criterias may be different or similar but the method is generally the same.

These criterias which we use are generally which we like. These are nothing but our own likings and dis likings. According to our training or conditioning which we have had in past in our environment, education and experiences we have different criterias for defining good. The thing which we define good are generally those which give us pleasant feeling, pleasant taste, pleasant gesture, happiness etc.

This desire for pleasant feeling, pleasant taste, nice experience, something new every time and continuous happiness is there within all of us. It is ever actively present within us. We are every time in search for some pleasant feeling or taste. When we are getting a pleasant feeling due to our association with some object then we like it and we want our association with that object to be continuous so that we can continuously keep getting the pleasant feeling, taste or happiness. When we are doing something which we do not like then we do not get that pleasant feeling and we want to get rid of that feeling and want some pleasant feeling again. It just implies that this desire for some pleasant feeling or happiness is there within all of us continuously.

Now if we look back to our understanding of Trust then we see that we set a level of Trust to the other person on the basis of our likings and dislikings. When we feel comfortable or get some pleasant feeling in the behavior of the other person or when other person behaves with us in accordance with our likings then we start Trusting that person. We feel comfortable with that person. We find the behavior of other person soothing. We can open up in front of that person, we feel like we have been unconditionally accepted. This feeling of being unconditional accepted gives us security. This is generally our basis for Trusting people.

Now the issue comes, when the behavior of other person starts changing, our notions of likings and dislikings start getting violated. Now the other person is not behaving in accordance to our criterias of liking. Since our Trust on the other person was dependent on our own likings and dislikings, so till the time other person keeps behaving in accordance to those criterias we are able to Trust him and as soon as his behavior changes our Trust shakes.

The thing here to notice is, we were getting pleasant feeling, comfort, happiness with the other person due to his behavior being in accordance to our notions of likings. We have been trying to derive comfort, happiness from the other person’s behavior. This is similar to deriving happiness or pleasant feeling by eating pizza. If we have spent a long time with a person who’s behavior with us has been in accordance with our notions of likings and when suddenly that person’s behavior starts changing then it really hurts us. In most of the cases we are not able to tolerate that change of behavior. It is similar to the case when a child is deriving immeasurable pleasure by eating an ice-cream and suddenly his mother snatches and throws away that icecream from him. We have been deriving happiness from other person’s behavior with us, it was giving us pleasant feeling and we also had expectations of other person’s behavior being consistent so that we keep getting that pleasant feeling and happiness continuously. The more and more time we spend with that person our expectations with the other person to remain the same keep getting stronger and stronger and we are most of the time are not even aware of it!! But, when the behavior of other person changes suddenly we get extremely hurt, our source of happiness is like snatched the same way ice-cream was snatched from the hand of that child. We want other person to behave with us the same way. We want to get that happiness again. When we are not able to get that then we blame that other person for our unhappiness. In fact we sometimes even become violent and that violence is also to restore the conditions back to as they were before or to vanish the other person who has been responsible according to us for our unhappiness.

Search for continuous happiness in an object which can not give its continuity is called Attachment.

The thing here to notice is, till the time we try to derive happiness from a thing which can not give its continuity we are bound to get hurt and get unhappiness. We want happiness and its continuity. When we get happiness from an object anytime then we desire for its continuity through that object. This happens unknowingly. Those expectations of deriving happiness and continuity from that object keep getting stronger till the time we are able to derive happiness from that object. When those expectations are violated we get hurt. Behavior of other person is the same thing. Other person’s behavior is not in our control. With the expectations of happiness and its continuity through other person’s behavior we give our state of being or our keys of happiness to other person and same thing happens with other person too mostly which ultimately becomes the source of our unhappiness.

Trust is defined as,

Total assurance that the Intentions of the other person are unconditionally good, is called Trust!

With the change in behavior of other person we doubt on his intentions and get hurt.

There is a need to look at our notions of happiness, relationships and Trust again in order to ensure them continuously since we want them continuously. Desire for happiness is such a desire which we can not kill or we can not suppress. This desire is ever actively present in us. We want happiness continuously. For continuous happiness we want such a thing which can ensure its continuity. We want our association with such an object which gives us happiness and keeps giving it continuously and which can not be separated from us so that we keep getting happiness continuously. Any object which is outside of us can not be associated with us continuously and even if we are able to associate it we will not be able to derive happiness from it continuously which we can experiment with us and come to know.

Object which can give us happiness and its continuity is proposed as Knowledge.

Knowledge includes:-

Knowledge of the Self.

Knowledge of Entire Existence.

and Knowledge of Natural Human Conduct.

Resolution and Scope of Logic and Imagination

Generally with our training or conditioning in education and environment we over evaluate Logic and Imagination. We start feeling that what we could not understand on the basis of Logic is not True or what we could understand on the basis of our logic is only True. I realized that we either under-evaluate or over-evaluate logic and imagination. In both the cases of under evaluation and over evaluation it creates problems to us. When we over evaluate it we start undermining all those things which we could not understand on the basis of Logic. When we under evaluate we stop using logic and imagination in those cases also where it is needed to deduce some more relationships in the things we already know. So there is a need for having right understanding of Logic and Imagination.

Our all logic and imaginations are based on our past knowledge, assumptions, experiences and memories. I can not logically derive something I do not know. With logic, I can just relate things I already know and come up with new relationships among them on the basis of some already known relationships. Similarly I can not imagine something which I do not know or I can not imagine something, sub parts of which I do not know. Let me take an example of what I am trying to say,

With Logic I can say if ‘A’ is True then ‘B’ is also True, but the fact remains that ‘A’ and ‘B’ should be known to me. If ‘B’ is not known to me then I can not make any statement about ‘B’. I just know that A is True.

Similarly, in case of imagination, if I know A and B then I can imagine A, B or something which is made up with the mixture of A and B but I can not imagine something which has something which I do not know. Like I can imagine a man with horns, but both a ‘man’ and ‘horns’ should be known to me. I create images in mind which has constituents which I already know. I can not constitute something to an image in my imagination which I do not know. So it implies that my imagination is also dependent on my existing knowledge, assumptions, experiences and memories.

Now the issue comes, if all my analysis, logic and imaginations are dependent on my past knowledge, assumptions, experiences and memories then how can I learn new things? How does my knowledge grow?

I see that I am not able to see more than what I know, but I still see that I am able to see more than what I could see in past, so how it is happening?

It happens many times with us that something clicks to us suddenly which we did not know previously and we also come to know that this is how it is!! That is what is called resolution. Resolution happens in present. A particular resolution can not be achieved without its base completely solidified. Resolution is more about paying attention to a particular thing rather than data mining of past. If we pay attention to a particular thing and we have a strong base to understand that particular thing then we can understand it otherwise we make a logical prediction on the basis of some observations in past for the existence of reality, but we can not authoritatively say it, because we have not seen/experienced/realized the reality yet. Reality can not be experienced/realized on the basis of past experiences, but past knowledge, assumptions, experiences and memories just provide the base for further realities to be seen.

Logic and Imagination thus give us opportunity to predict the existence of reality on the basis of past knowledge, assumptions, experiences and memories. This prediction induces inquisitiveness within us to know/realize/experience it. The prediction which we have about the reality is not baseless. It is an image in our mind about the reality but is not exactly the reality. With more and more attention, inquisitiveness and research, the image which we have in our mind about the reality keep improving, it keeps coming more and more closer to the reality, when it comes quite closer then we have the full opportunity to experience/realize the reality. When we experience/realize/see the reality, which happens in present, then we understand the exact reality, before that there is something lacking in the image which we draw to depict the reality. But yes the image which have in our mind is always the base for inquisitiveness and further research and helps us  in understanding/experiencing/realizing/seeing the reality.

Observation/Realization/To Experience/To See etc. are not the properties of Logic and Imagination. Logic and Imagination provide base for them.

Without Logic and Imagination Resolution is not possible. Logic and Imagination are necessary to understand the reality but are NOT sufficient. Reality can only be experienced. Logic and Imagination helps us in predicting it and give us inquisitiveness to experience it.

There is a difference between Sight and Vision. Sight is something I born with. Vision is my ability to see the reality. My vision is dependent on my existing knowledge.

कई दिनों से मैं अपने मन में होने वाली गतिविधियों को देखने का प्रयास कर रहा था| किस तरह से मन एक जगह से दूसरी जगह भागता है| मन में पिजा का ध्यान आया, पिजा से पिजा हट का ध्यान आया, पिजा हट में जब पिछली बार गए थे तब का दिन याद आ गया, उस दिन मैं काफ़ी परेशान था फिर यह ध्यान आया, परेशानी का कारण तो मैंने पहले ही ढूँढ निकाला था वह परेशानी मुझे जब कभी पहले आई थी वह सब पल मेरी आंखों के सामने आ गए, और जब मुझे होश आया तो मैंने पाया की में पिछले १ घंटे से बेहोश था| एक घंटे तक मैं अपने मन की गतिविधियों को देख रहा था| किस तरह से एक से दूसरी कड़ी जुड़ती गई, किस तरह से मन एक जगह से दूसरी जगह भागता गया, किस तरह से नए नए विचार मेरे मन में अपने आप आते रहे और ख़ास बात यह थी की यह सब अपने आप ही हो रहा था, मैं तो बस देख रहा था| चित्र अपने आप बदल रहे थे, उन चित्रों मैं आवाजें भी थी, वह भी मुझे साफ सुने दे रही थी| ऐसा लग रहा था की मनो मैं कोई चलचित्र देख रहा हूँ, जिसका मैं हीरो हूँ|

कई बार ऐसा भी होता है की मन में आई किसी वस्तु से मुझे उससे मिलने वाले स्वाद का ध्यान आ जाता है और मेरे मन में उस वस्तु से उस स्वाद को पाने की इच्छा जागृत हो उठती है| जैसे पिजा का ध्यान आने पर उससे मिलने वाले स्वाद का आस्वादन मैं अपने मन में लेता हूँ और फिर मुझे पिजा खाने की तलब उठती है| पिजा का ध्यान आने पर पिजा का स्वाद तथा उसका चित्र मेरे मन मैं स्वतः ही आ जाता है| यहाँ पर पिजा तो केवल एक उधाहरण है, ऐसा मेरे साथ हर उस वस्तु के लिए होता है जिससे मुझे अच्छा स्वाद मिला हो और जिससे मुझे वह स्वाद दोबारा मिलने की आशा हो| यहाँ पर यह भी देखने की बात है की यह स्वाद मुझे केवल खाने पीने की चीजों में ही नहीं, बल्कि कई अन्य चीजों मे भी मिलता है| जैसे किसी प्रियजन के साथ बिताये गए अच्छे समय का स्वाद या आस्वादन| अपने प्रियजनों के साथ बिताये गए अच्छे समय की यादें तथा उस समय लिया गया स्वाद अथवा आस्वादन मेरे मन में बना रहता है| जैसे ही मुझे वह पल याद आते हैं, मैं अपने मन में वह आस्वादन बिना उन पलों मे हुए भी लेने लगता हूँ और फिर वैसे ही पल दोबारा से पाने की इच्छा रखता हूँ| इस तरह से यह देखने मे आता है की यह स्वाद या आस्वादन मुझे कई जगहों से मिलता है, खाने पीने से, घूमने फिरने से, टीवी देख कर, अपने प्रियजनों से बातें कर के, उनके साथ अच्छा समय बिता कर तथा कई अन्य वस्तुओं से| इतना सब कुछ मेरे मन मे चलता रहता है, मुझ मे इतनी सारी इच्छाओं को जन्म देते रहता है, मुझ से इतना कुछ कराते रहता है|

यहाँ पर यह देखने में आता है की यह स्वाद पाने की आशा मेरे मन में हमेशा ही बनी रहती है| में निरंतर किसी ना किसी वस्तु से स्वाद पाने की आशा रखता हूँ| जिस वस्तु का स्वाद मुझे अच्छा नहीं लगता उसे में अपने से दूर कर देना चाहता हूँ और जिस वस्तु का स्वाद मुझे अच्छा लगा हो या लगता हो उसे मैं पा लेना चाहता हूँ ताकि मुझे वह स्वाद दोबारा मिल सके| अगर मैं ध्यान से देखूं तो मुझे यह दिखता है की मेरे सारे क्रियाकलाप स्वाद पाने के लिए ही हो रहे हैं| मैं किसी भी वस्तु से, पिजा खा के, टीवी देख कर, घूम फिर के, गाने सुन के, लोगों के साथ समय बिता कर तथा कई अन्य क्रियाकलाप कर के स्वाद पाने की आशा रखता हूँ तथा वह स्वाद पा कर उसे निरंतर बनाये रखने की आशा लगता हूँ| पर ऐसा भी देखने मैं आता है की उनमें से किसी भी वस्तु से मुझे स्वाद की निरंतरता नहीं मिलती| जब किसी वस्तु से मिलने वाले स्वाद की निरंतरता भंग होने लगती है तो मैं किसी दूसरी वस्तु से स्वाद पाने की आशा लगाता हूँ| जैसे पिजा का स्वाद, जैसे जैसे मेरा पेट भरने लगता है पिजा का स्वाद कम होने लगता है, फिर मैं किसी दूसरे तरह के स्वाद की आशा लगाता हूँ, फिर मैं गाने सुनने लगाता हूँ या कुछ और करने लगता हूँ| गाने सुनने में या कुछ और करने में भी में कुछ ही समय में बोर हो जाता हूँ फिर मुझे किसी और स्रोत से स्वाद की इच्छा उठती है|

इस प्रयोग तथा विश्लेषण ने मेरे मन में और भी काफ़ी सारे सवाल खड़े कर दिए, आखिर यह सब हो क्या रहा है? यह सब अपने आप ही कैसे हो रहा है? मेरा मन उसी तरह से क्यों भाग रहा है जैसे की वह भगा और किसी तरह से क्यों नहीं? आखिर ये सब क्यों हो रहा है? इत्यादी| थोड़ा अनुसंधान करने पर तथा अन्य कुछ और लोगों से बात करने पर मैंने पाया की मेरा मन उन्ही जगहों पर भागता है जिनको मैंने महत्त्वपूर्ण मान रखा होता है| जहाँ पर मुझे स्वाद मिलने की आशा होती है, वहीं मेरा मन भागता है, उन्ही को मैं महत्त्वपूर्ण मनाता हूँ| जिन चीजों को मैं महत्त्वपूर्ण मानता हूँ, जिन चीजों से मैं प्रभावित होता हूँ, मेरा मन उन्ही चीजों की उधेड़बुन मैं लगा रहता है| मेरे मन मैं जितने भी विचार, जितनी भी इच्छाएं उठती हैं वे सब इसी आधार पर काम कर रही होती हैं| मेरी सारी इच्छा, विचार, आशाएं इसी आधार पर काम कर रही हैं, ऐसा देखने मैं आता है|

यहाँ पर दूसरा प्रश्न जो खड़ा होता है वह यह है की मैंने कुछ विशेष चीजों को महत्त्वपूर्ण तथा कुछ अन्य चीजों को अमहत्वपूर्ण क्यों मान रखा है? आश्चर्य की बात तो यह है की कुछ चीजों को महत्त्वपूर्ण मानना, कुछ चीजों को अमहत्वपूर्ण मानना, ये सब मैंने किया और मुझे पता ही नहीं है की मैं यह सब कर भी रहा हूँ| मेरा मन अपने आप उन सभी विषय वस्तुओं की तरफ़ भाग रहा है जिन्हें मैं महत्त्वपूर्ण मान रहा हूँ और मुझे ख़ुद को ही यह पता नहीं रहता की मैंने उन वस्तुओं को महत्त्वपूर्ण मान रखा है| स्वप्न मैं भी ऐसा ही होता है| मुझे स्वप्न मैं भी वही सब वस्तुएं दिखाई देती हैं जिनके बारे में मैं अक्सर विचार किया करता हूँ या कुछ हद तक महत्त्वपूर्ण मानता हूँ| जब मैंने अपने मन को उन विषय वस्तुओं की तरफ़ भागता हुआ देखा तब मेरा ध्यान गया की मैंने उन वस्तुओं को अपने जीवन मैं निश्चय ही एक उच्च स्थान दिया हुआ है|

यहाँ तक यह तो देखने मैं आ गया की मैं कुछ वस्तुओं को महत्त्वपूर्ण तथा अन्य को अमहत्वपूर्व मान रहा हूँ, पर मेरे अन्दर ऐसा क्यों हो रहा है, इसका विश्लेषण अभी बाकी है| मैंने ऐसा पाया की सुख की आशा मुझ मैं निरंतर बनी रहती है| मैं निरंतर सुखपूर्वक जीना चाहता हूँ| हर क्षण सुख चाहता हूँ| सुखी होने और सुखी होकर जीने की चाहना मुझ में नित्य वर्तमान है| इस चाहनावश मैं कई वस्तुओं में सुख ढूँढने का प्रयास करता हूँ| जिन वस्तुओं से मुझे सुख की आशा रहती है उन वस्तुओं को मैं महत्त्वपूर्ण मानता हूँ, तथा जिन चीजों से मुझे दुःख पहुच रहा होता है उन चीजों से छुटकारा पाने के नए नए तरीके मैं सोचता रहता हूँ| जब तक मैं अपने किसी विशेष दुःख के कारण को ढूँढ नहीं लेता और उससे छुटकारा नहीं पा लेता मैं उसे भूल नहीं पाता, मेरा मन उसी मैं लगा रहता है, उससे छुटकारा पा लेना चाहता है| यह देख कर भी ये प्रमाणित होता है की सुखपूर्वक जीने की चाहना मुझे मैं निरंतर बनी हुई है, जब मैं सुखी होता हूँ तो मैं उसी स्थिति मैं निरंतर रहना चाहता हूँ, और जब मैं दुखी होता हूँ तो मैं उस स्थिति से बाहर निकल जाना चाहता हूँ, और वापस से सुखी हो जाना चाहता हूँ| चाहना तो हमेशा मेरी सुख की ही है| मेरे सारे क्रियाकलाप, सारी इच्छाएं, विचार, आशाएं इसी एक उद्देश्य को प्राप्त करने के लिए कार्यरत हैं| इस निरंतर सुखपूर्वक जीने की आशा को पूरा करने के लिए मुझे किसी ऐसी वस्तु की आवश्यकता है जिसमें निरंतर सुख का स्वभाव हो| सही समझ तथा संबंध का भाव ऐसी दो वस्तुएं बताई जाती हैं जिनसे निरंतर सुख मिलने की संभावना है|

प्रतियोगी या सहयोगी?

अक्सर ऐसा होता है कि किसी व्यक्ति के हमारे ऊपर कुछ टिपण्णी कर देने पर हम परेशान हो जाते हैं, उस व्यक्ति पर संदेह करने लगते हैं| संदेह की भावना हमें तो परेशान करती ही है, साथ ही साथ हमें वह व्यक्ति भी अपने विरोधी अथवा प्रतियोगी की तरह दिखने लग जाता है| अक्सर ऐसा तब होता है जब हमारे आसपास का कोई व्यक्ति हमें कुछ ऐसी बात कह देता है जिसकी अपेक्षा हम उस व्यक्ति से नहीं रखते या जब दूसरे व्यक्ति को हमने पहले से ही अपने प्रतियोगी या विरोधी की तरह स्वीकारा रहता है| जब हम ऐसा कुछ सुनते हैं तो अक्सर हमारे मन में संदेह उत्पन्न हो जाता है, की पता नहीं उस व्यक्ति के मन में मेरे प्रति क्या अवधारणा बनी हुई है?, पता नहीं क्या हो गया?, ऐसी तो इस व्यक्ति से अपेक्षा नहीं थी!, वह व्यक्ति मुझे परेशान करना चाहता है, इत्यादी| यह संदेह की भावना धीरे धीरे मेरे मन में दूसरे व्यक्ति के प्रति विरोध की भावना को जन्म देती है और फिर वह विरोध का भाव मुझे परेशान करते रहता है, मेरी उर्जा खाते रहता है|

यहाँ पर प्रश्न यह खड़ा होता है कि दूसरे व्यक्ति की टिपण्णी से मुझे परेशानी क्यों हो रही है? ऐसा देखने में आता है कि जब कोई व्यक्ति मुझे कुछ कहता है, तब उसके केवल दो ही आशय हो सकते हैं, या तो वह मेरे भले के लिए, मुझे कुछ समझाने के लिए मुझसे कुछ कह रहा है या फिर वह वह मुझे नीचा दिखाने के लिए या मुझे परेशान करने के लिए कुछ कह रहा है| या तो वह मुझे कुछ समझा कर सुखी करना चाहता है या फिर मुझे ताना मारकर दुखी करना चाहता है| जब मुझे ऐसा लगता है कि सामने वाला व्यक्ति मुझे समझाने के लिए कह रहा है, मेरी भलाई के लिए कह रहा है, तो मैं परेशान नहीं होता, बल्कि मैं उसकी बात ध्यान से सुनता हूँ और अपनी गलतियों को अगर मैं कुछ पकड़ पाता हूँ तो मानता हूँ, स्वीकार कर लेता हूँ तथा दूसरे व्यक्ति को मैं अपने सहयोगी की तरह स्वीकारता हूँ|

जब मुझे ऐसा लगता है कि दूसरा व्यक्ति मुझे ताना मारने के लिए, मुझे दुखी करने के लिए मुझसे कुछ कह रहा है तो मैं परेशान हो जाता हूँ, उसकी कही बात के आधार पर मैं स्वयं का मूल्यांकन करके स्वयं को नीचा पाता हूँ, हीनता का भाव मेरे अन्दर जन्म लेने लगता है तथा मैं दूसरे व्यक्ति को अपने विरोधी अथवा प्रतियोगी की तरह देखने लग जाता हूँ| विरोध अथवा प्रतियोगिता का भाव मेरे अन्दर काफ़ी परेशानी को जन्म देता है और मुझे दूसरे व्यक्ति को नीचा दिखाने तथा परेशान करने के नए नए तरीके तथा वाद विवाद में जीतने के नए तरीके इजाद करने के लिए प्रेरित करता है| काफ़ी समय और उर्जा इसमें नष्ट होती है और मुझे परेशान करती है|

यहाँ पर ध्यान देने वाली चीज़ जो मुझे नज़र आती है, दूसरा व्यक्ति मुझे परेशान करने की चेष्टा तभी करता है जब वह ख़ुद ही परेशान हो या मुझे उसके प्रतियोगी अथवा विरोधी की तरह देखता हो| मैं स्वयं में यह देख पाता हूँ की जब मैं ख़ुद परेशान होता हूँ तो मेरा व्यवहार दूसरों के प्रति बदल जाता है, कई बार मैं दूसरों को अनजाने मैं अपनी परेशानिवश परेशान भी कर देता हूँ| जब मैं दुखी होता हूँ तो दूसरों को मैं सुखी नहीं कर पाता और उनको ना चाहते हुए भी दुखी कर बैठता हूँ| दूसरी चीज़ जो मुझे नज़र आती है वह है की जब मैं दूसरे को अपने विरोधी अथवा प्रतियोगी की तरह देखता हूँ तब भी मैं दुखी ही होता हूँ| मेरे मन में हर समय यही विचार चल रहा होता है की किस तरह से मैं उस व्यक्ति से किसी भी प्रतियोगिता मैं जीत जाऊँ, किस तरह से मैं उस व्यक्ति को नीचा दिखाऊँ, किस तरह से मैं उस व्यक्ति को परेशान करूँ| यहाँ पर मैं यह देख पाता हूँ की विरोध अथवा प्रतियोगिता का भाव किस तरह से मुझे परेशान करता है, किस तरह से मेरे विचारों को हर समय घेरा रहता है, किस तरह से मुझ मे असुरक्षा का भाव उत्पन्न करता है और किस तरह से मुझे पीड़ा देता है| जब मैं ख़ुद दुखी होता हूँ तो दूसरों को दुखी ही करता हूँ| जब मे ख़ुद सुखी होता हूँ तब ही मैं दूसरों को सुखी कर पाता हूँ| उसी तरह जब दूसरा व्यक्ति ख़ुद दुखी होता है तो वह मुझे सुखी नहीं कर पाता|

यहाँ पर ऐसा देखने मे आता है की मेरी चाहना तो दूसरे को हमेशा सुखी करने की ही होती है पर जब मैं स्वयं में परेशान होता हूँ तो दूसरे को सुखी नहीं कर पाता उल्टा दुखी कर बैठता हूँ| उसी तरह दूसरे की चाहना भी मुझे सुखी करने की ही है परन्तु जब वह ख़ुद में ही परेशान होता है तब वह मुझे भी सुखी नहीं कर पाता उल्टा दुखी कर बैठता है| जब दूसरा व्यक्ति मुझे दुखी कर बैठता है तब मैं अगर उससे यह अनुमान लगता हूँ की वह मुझे दुखी करना चाहता था, तो में भी परेशान हो जाता हूँ तथा बदले या विरोध का भाव मुझ में आ जाता है| पर अगर मैं यह समझ पाता हूँ की वह मुझे दुखी नहीं करना चाहता था बल्कि वह अभी ख़ुद दुखी है इसलिए मुझे सुखी नहीं कर पा रहा है तो मेरा आराम बना रहता है और में उस व्यक्ति को अपने विरोधी की तरह नहीं देखता, मेरे मन में विरोध का भाव नहीं आता, मुझे परेशानी नहीं होती, बल्कि मैं उस व्यक्ति के प्रति जिम्मेदार महसूस करता हूँ तथा उसकी समझ विकसित करने में भागीदारी करता हूँ| दूसरा व्यक्ति भी ऐसा ही करता है|

दूसरे व्यक्ति की चाहना के प्रति पूर्ण आश्वस्ति कहलाती है, विश्वास| विश्वास का आभाव ही संबंधों में तनावों का कारण है|
